Leaders Blackpool beat third place Port Vale two days ago in the Youth Alliance League and that’s allowed Burnley, winners against Morecambe, to move ahead of Vale on goal difference and into that third place.

1617 burnley tristan jumeau 00 500x500Nine wins and three draws in the last thirteen games  has seen us move up the table almost on a weekly basis recently and this latest win has now taken us above Vale and with two games in hand on them.

Bury, also having played two more, are a point behind. They had a massive 7-2 win against Accrington in one of the other two games and that’s continued Accrington’s recent drop. They were within a result of taking top spot in November but two draws and eight defeats in the last ten games have seen them drop to fifth from bottom of the table.

That bottom place has changed hands again over the weekend with the bottom club moving up without playing. It’s all down to goal difference and Wrexham’s 3-0 defeat at Preston has seen theirs go two worse that Carlisle’s again thus dropping the Welsh club into bottom place.

Burnley’s 3-0 win against Morecambe came via goals from the regular duo. This time Nashé Chakwana scored one with Tommy Wood getting the other two. The pair have now taken their league and cup tally to 23.

Unfortunately the win came at the expense of two bad injuries for first year scholars. Defender James Clarke suffered a broken foot while Tristan Jumeau (pictured) left the field with a knee injury. How serious that is remains to be seen but hopefully we’ll soon have the pair back in action.

We could be down to fourth by the time we play again with Port Vale in action on Wednesday when they face Rochdale who just four points behind us both and have two games in hand on us. That’s a home game for Vale but they then travel to Gawthorpe this Saturday to face the in form Clarets.

The weekend results and this week’s fixtures are below with the Burnley goalscorers and the league table as it stands.

The League Table is updated as the scores come in and can be found with our Fixtures and Results which can be found in U23/U18 Stats on the top menu.
