Clarets paired with local rivals in Premier League Cup
The draw for this season’s Premier League Cup has given Burnley a tough group alongside local rivals Blackburn Rovers, Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough.
This is the seventh season of the competition in which we reached the semi-finals in 2013 before going out to Manchester City. We haven’t faced two of these clubs in the competition before but did play against Blackburn in 2016/17 with the home game played at Morecambe.

There are eight groups of four teams each in the competition with four places to be confirmed via qualifying games to be played next week. The groups are listed below.

Hull, Newcastle, Southend or Scunthorpe, West Brom
Group D
Aston Villa, Cambridge or Exeter, Doncaster, Portsmouth

Huddersfield or Oxford, Liverpool, Sunderland, Wigan
