Burnley have reached and will play Accrington Stanley in the semi-final of the Lancashire Senior Cup having beaten Everton 4-1 this evening at Finch Park with two goals apiece from trialist Mikey O’Neill and Lewis Richardson.

The same two players scored in the 2-2 Premier League Cup draw at Brentford last Friday and it was O’Neill again who scored our opening goal just five minutes in when he scored from close range after a shot had been handled on the line by an Everton defender which would have led to a red card and a penalty had we not netted from the rebound.

Richardson (pictured) quickly followed when he went clear and dinked the ball over Everton goalkeeper George Pickford to double our advantage and he scored again just before reaching the half way point in the first half with a shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Right on half time, O’Neill scored his second with a powerful shot into the roof of the net and we went in at half time with a 4-0 lead.

We weren’t able to add to it after the break with the only goal in the second half coming as a consolation from Everton from Coby Ebere.

The teams were;
