bolton 700Just over six years ago we were told that Bolton Wanderers were ten years ahead of us; just a few weeks ago we came from behind to beat them and go top of the league and in July we will play them in a friendly with the two teams now two leagues apart.

Burnley have today confirmed our first pre-season friendly after returning to the Premier League and it will be against Bolton who have now dropped into League One and are looking for a new manager.

A lot of water has gone under the bridge since Owen Coyle made those remarks of them being a long way ahead of us and things have changed dramatically so it will be a boost for them to have the opportunity to host a Premier League club ahead of the 2016/17 season.

The game has been confirmed for Tuesday 26th July at the Macron Stadium with an 8 p.m. kick off but is still subject to change dependent on our other pre-season fixtures.

Yesterday we brought news of the development squad game at Altrincham. This has now been confirmed by the club along with four other games for the team.

The first of them is at Colne on Friday 22nd July. The Altrincham game is a week later and that’s followed by a game at Chester on Tuesday 2nd August and two home games against Sunderland and Middlesbrough’s under-21 teams on Friday 5th and Tuesday 9th August although the venue is to be confirmed for both of those games.
