Tomorrow’s FA Cup tie against Arsenal will be refereed by Premier League referee Roger East, his first Burnley game since our game at Southampton in March of this year.

He became a Football League referee in 2007 but it was the 2010/11 season when he first took charge of a Burnley game. That was at Cardiff when a late Steven Thompson goal earned us a point on our first ever visit to the Cardiff City Stadium.

He moved up to the Premier League in 2012 but his first game was a difficult one, a 2-2 draw between Swansea and Sunderland at the Liberty Stadium. He sent off Swansea’s Chico and his red card came out again in his second Premier League game, this time it was Peter Odemwingie in West Brom’s 3-0 defeat at Fulham a month later.

Having started this season in the Football League, he’s been almost exclusively used in the Premier League this season. He’s sent off just one player in 22 games and that in his first game of the season when he showed the red card to Portsmouth’s Enda Stevens against Morecambe.

There have been 66 yellow cards of which 26 have gone to home team players and 40 to away team players.

His last game was the 1-1 draw between Sunderland and Bournemouth a week ago. Billy Jones of Sunderland and Bournemouth’s Andrew Surman were yellow carded.

Roger East is currently 40th in RATE THE REF with a rating of 55.45 out of 100.

The assistant referees are Simon Bennett (Staffordshire) and Marc Perry (West Midlands). The fourth official is Football League referee Fred Graham (Essex) whose last Burnley game was the 1-0 defeat at Leeds in April 2013.
