1718 burnley turf moor 01 1000x500Just a few weeks ago it looked as if Burnley and Crewe Alexandra would be the two teams battling to avoid finishing bottom of the northern group of the Professional Development League but things have changed for today’s opponents.

Crewe were just ahead of us in mid-February but they’ve been on an unbeaten run that has seen them win five and draw two of their last seven games. It’s left them well clear of the bottom places and they are now just five points short of Nottingham Forest who currently occupy third place.

They’ve passed Birmingham and Barnsley by with Barnsley and ourselves now the most likely to take the wooden spoon. We are currently four points behind Barnsley, who themselves lost to Crewe earlier this week, although we have two games in hand and still have our away game against them to play at Oakwell.

Today’s game kicks off a run in of six games in three weeks, two of them at home and the other four away from home. We’ll be hoping, certainly, for a better performance than in the away game at Gresty Road back in October when we were beaten 2-0.

Kick off today is 2 p.m. with the Bob Lord Stand open. Admission is free for season card holders, otherwise it is £4 adults, £2 concessions. Tickets must be purchased at the ticket office adjacent to the turnstiles.
