Both Jamie Frost and Nathan Lowe have seen their contracts with Burnley terminated by mutual consent.

The pair were made aware of this last week but it was only today that the news was confirmed by the club with Frost even having played in the development squad game this week.

Lowe spent two years as a scholar and has since had two years with the development squad although he has missed much of this season due to injury.

Yesterday, the club’s academy manager Jason Blake spoke about how Aiden O’Neill had been hampered by not being able to play competitive football last season with the youth team because of international clearance problems. He stressed the importance of playing competitive games in a player’s development.

Yet Frost, under the same man’s watch, was pushed straight into behind closed doors friendly games with the development squad and, during his two year scholarship, hardly played any competitive games.

Both of them were in the team, however, on the night we beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in the FA Youth Cup back in December 2012 but Lowe, who celebrates his 20th birthday today and Frost, who is seven months younger, are now free to find other clubs.

It’s a disappointment to see both of them leave and Up the Clarets would like to wish the pair the very best in the future.
