Game number three of the season for Stroud
Keith Stroud will referee our game tomorrow at Norwich. It will be his third Burnley game this season having previously taken charge of the home draw against Blackpool and the win at Stoke.
He sent off Ian Maatsen, along with Blackpool’s Sonny Carey. Maatsen became the third Burnley player he’s sent off having previously dismissed Steven Caldwell at Chelsea in 2008 and Clarke Carlisle at Millwall almost two years later.
Tomorrow will be his 24th game of the season. Once known as ‘The Card Man’, he hasn’t been shy this season either with 117 in the 23 games to date which is averaging just over five per game. To add to that there have been just three red cards.
Of those yellow cards, 63 have gone to home team players with 54 to away team players. The one other player he has sent off this season was Sunderland’s Luke O’Nien in their recent home defeat against Swansea and there can be no consideration that he got that decision wrong.
He’s refereed just one game since the one at Sunderland. That was last Saturday when Blackburn drew 2-2 against Birmingham in the FA Cup. Blackburn had all of Joe Rankin-Costello, Scott Wharton, Tyler Morton and Ben Brereton carded alongside Birmingham’s Tahith Chong.
Fourth official tomorrow is Charles Breakspear. A Football League referee since 2013, he’s still to referee a Burnley game.
Referee: Keith Stroud
