1617 burnley johann berg gudmundsson 01 800x450Up the Clarets ran a voting poll after the last pre-season friendly asking who you considered was our best player on the night, and the answer was Iceland international Johann Berg Gudmundsson, our  new signing from Charlton Athletic.

He polled virtually a third of the vote to take him ahead of goalscorer Andre Gray who won a 27% share. Only Danny Lafferty, playing at left back in the continued absence of Stephen Ward, among the other players reached double figures with 10% of the vote.

Since Up the Clarets was launched in January of this year, the man of the match voting polls have been available only on the message board, but I’m pleased to report that has now changed and they will be on the main site and free for everyone to vote this season.

The voting poll will be shown down the right hand side of every page when viewing the desktop version of the site. Just look below Recent Posts and Archives to find it. For those viewing the mobile version, an article featuring the poll will be published after every game and you will be able to vote from within that article.

It will allow us once again to collect the results of the man of the match vote and the player ratings, which will again be posted on the message board, to determine the player of the year next May. As in previous years, the winner of each will receive five points with the players in the next three positions collecting three points, two points and one point respectively.

The closed Real Sociedad voting poll will remain on all pages until the Swansea poll becomes active and that should be within an hour of the final whistle this Saturday.
