Vincent Kompany might not have won the main League Managers Association Award as Manager of the Year but he was recognised by his union as the best in the Championship.

Kompany was one of six managers nominated for the main award alongside Plymouth’s Steven Schumacher and, from the Premier League, Mikel Arteta, Roberto de Zerbi, Eddie Howe and Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola it was who won that award along with the Premier League Manager of the Year with the three other divisional awards going to the managers of the teams that won their respective titles, Kompany, Schumacher and Leyton Orient’s Richie Wellens.
