No infections at Burnley as Everton request turned down
Will our Boxing Day game against Everton go ahead? It must be in some doubt with Everton having already requested a postponement that has been rejected by the Premier League.
The news in the Burnley camp is much better. There are no infections within the first team squad although some players will be ruled out with injury.
Ashley Barnes is making good progress but isn’t ready yet with Sean Dyche again confirming that they knew it would be a long one. Connor Roberts is, thankfully, recovering from the virus he suffered although is still recovering.
Maxwel Cornet is just about certain to be absent again. He’s had COVID but is still not training with the group following his recent injury sustained at Newcastle although Dale Stephens is now back with the squad on the grass.
On the subject of Cornet, he’s due to leave soon for the African Cup of Nations but Burnley are in discussions with his country’s FA in the hope of getting his departure delayed.
