The Premier League have this morning confirmed the seven nominees for the EA Sports Player of the Season and that list of seven includes our goalkeeper Nick Pope.

He’s alongside three title winners, one runner up and the two leading goalscorers in the season just ended. From Liverpool there is Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mané who are joined by Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne. Jamie Vardy and ex-Claret Danny Ings are also nominated.

Pope fully deserves the nomination. Having suffered a shoulder injury in July two years ago at Aberdeen, he finally reclaimed his place in the Premier League this season during which he has kept 15 clean sheets and has surely established himself as a strong candidate to become England’s number one.

The winner will be decided by both a panel of 30 which includes former Claret Ian Wright and the public. The public vote, and you can VOTE HERE until 6 p.m. on Monday 10th August, will represent 10% of the vote.
