Pope wins Arsenal battle
Choosing our best player after the recent win at Arsenal proved a difficult task if only to decide between two players who should be voted the best.
Nick Pope was again in top form in goal and he was one of the candidates alongside midfielder Josh Brownhill and it was Pope who came out on top, just about, in both the man of the match vote and in the player ratings.
Both Pope and Brownhill secured 33% of the man of the match vote with Pope winning it by just two votes. James Tarkowski took third place with 16% while 5% of the vote won fourth place for Ashley Westwood.
The top two were just about kept apart in the player ratings too. Again Pope was the winner with a rating of 8.68 out of 10, the highest rating any player has achieved so far this season, and again right behind was Brownhill who scored 8.66. Tarkowski was again third with a score of 8.55 while Ben Mee, with a rating of 8.41 out of 10, took fourth place.
It’s another ten points for Pope towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year with Brownhill winning six points, four points for Tarkowski and one each for Mee and Westwood and those points have given us a new leader at the top of the table with Pope moving five points clear of Charlie Taylor who has led for some time. Brownhill is just a further three points behind.
We will have the Villa result tomorrow while you can still VOTE until the end of Christmas Eve for the man of the match against Wolves. Then, look out for the next vote after the Leeds game on Sunday.
