It wasn’t the best of days for Burnley at Crystal Palace last Saturday; we were eaten 1-0 in what was probably considered to be our worst performance of the season.

1718 burnley charlie taylor 01 500x500Not many players came out of the game with too much credit but left-back Charlie Taylor was certainly one of those who did alongside Ben Mee. Taylor it is who has won both the man of the match vote and the player ratings and it is no surprise that Mee is right behind in second place in both.

Taylor polled 35% of the man of the match vote, ahead of Mee who was second with a 24% share. Ashley Barnes, again employed on the left hand side, was third with 13% and new signing Georges-Kévin NKoudou came on as a substitute and played well enough to secure fourth place with 9% of the vote.

The player ratings were the lowest we’ve had for some time with only three players even reaching six out of ten for an average performance. Taylor was ahead of the field again with a rating of 6.85 out of 10 while Mee was second with 6.69. Third and fourth in the man of the match vote switched places in the rating with NKoudou coming third with 6.23 and Barnes taking fourth place with a rating of 5.77 out of 10.

The Palace results means Taylor has won the maximum ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year with Mee collecting six points and both Barnes and NKoudou winning three points. Mee’s points have taken him above Jack Cork into fourth place.

The next voting poll will start on Saturday after the home game against Manchester United and the Palace result can be found below with the current player of the year table.
