Burnley went into March with everyone talking about us not having won a game since mid-December, but we ended the month with a 100% record of three wins and that’s helped win the Barclays Manager of the Month Award for Sean Dyche.

1718 burnley sean dyche 01 500x500We came from behind to beat Everton and followed that up with wins at West Ham and West Brom and it’s meant our manager has beaten Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola and Claude Puel, who will be at Turf Moor tomorrow, to the award.

Incredibly, Dyche has become only the fifth manager to win the award this season. Huddersfield’s David Wagner won it in August while Eddie Howe (Bournemouth) and Chris Hughton (Brighton) were the winners in January and February. Guardiola took the award in each month from September to December inclusive.

Dyche was quick to pass on the congratulations. “I am really pleased, on behalf of myself and staff, but particularly the players,” he said.

“I think they are having an outstanding season, with hopefully more to come, but in this period they have been very strong mentally. A lot of questions were being asked after a tough run and to come out of that with four straight victories, three in March, was very satisfying.

“I mentioned during that run that we were still performing, despite some injuries, and to see through all that and put it all back together in this good run shows great belief and resilience.”

He also had words for the Burnley supporters. “I must also thank the fans,” he added. “Some fans can get disgruntled by a tough period, but I don’t think ours did. They continued to back the players home and away and that gives players a better chance of performing, so they deserve a mention too, without a shadow of a doubt.”

Congratulations to Sean in becoming the first Burnley manager ever to win the Premier League Manager of the Month Award.
