michael duff 300x400Having moved four points ahead of Barnsley with last Friday’s win at Oakwell, Michael Duff’s under-23 team have two games this week to complete the programme in this, our first ever season in the Professional Development League.

The first of those games is at Millwall this afternoon before we then travel to Sheffield Wednesday in four days time, and I’m sure we’ll be keen to ensure we don’t drop back below Barnsley who also have two games remaining. We could, although it’s unlikely, move higher with Birmingham three points ahead of us and Crewe a further point ahead although Crewe only have one game to play.

It will be a young team again, I imagine, and the team could also be without regular Dwight McNeil who was in the first team squad yesterday at Stoke. We could include some trialists and, if so, within that group it is likely that there will be Teddy Perkins (Leyton Orient), Josh Benson (Arsenal) and Mace Goodridge (Newcastle), three young players who have all featured regularly in recent weeks.

Our opponents Millwall occupy the same next to bottom position in the south group although they have no chance of dropping down a place. This is their last game but they go into it 11 points clear of bottom club Bristol City yet only two points behind Coventry City who occupy 5th place in the table.

The game is being played at The Den and kicks off at 2 p.m. Admission to the game is £5 adults, £1 concessions in the Barry Kitchener Stand Lower.  Tickets must be purchased from the Millwall ticket office.
