I doubt it will be any consolation to Robbie Brady that he was voted our second best player at Leicester despite only playing for the first half hour before being stretchered off with what we now know is a torn patellar tendon.

1718 burnley johann berg gudmundsson 00 500x500He’d continued the form he’d shown in the previous game at Bournemouth as did his fellow wide player Jόhann Berg Guðmundsson who went on to win the vote and the ratings ahead of Brady.

The pair have been key to our recent good form which, prior to Saturday, had brought us four wins in five Premier League games and they won over half of the man of the match vote between them at Leicester; Guðmundsson won it with 39% and Brady claimed second place with 15%.

Nick Pope, who was excellent after the unfortunate early goal, came third with 10% while a 9% share of the vote saw Steven Defour win fourth place.

Three of those four players were in the top four in the ratings too with the same top two. Guðmundsson won with a rating of 7.67 out of 10 with Brady not far behind with 7.10. Defour was third this time; his rating was 7.10 with Phil Bardsley taking fourth place with a rating of 7.00 out of 10.

This result gives Guðmundsson the maximum ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year. Brady has won six points with three for Defour, two for Pope and one point for Bardsley.

There is no change at the top of the table with neither of joint leaders Jack Cork and James Tarkowski winning any points. That’s allowed Defour to move to within 12 points of them. Pope is in fourth place with Brady and Guðmundsson now moving up to fifth and sixth respectively although for Brady it will be as high as he will go this season.
