The Played For Both Clubs feature was updated and re-launched on Up the Clarets last month and has received its first update today with nine former or current Burnley players having made their debuts for new clubs this weekend.

The first debutant was Tendayi Darikwa who was in the Forest side that beat Millwall 1-0 on Friday night at the City Ground but there were eight more yesterday with just one of those eight in the Championship. That was George Boyd (pictured) who was in Sheffield Wednesday’s starting line up for their 1-0 defeat at Preston. He played the first 67 minutes before being replaced by Ross Wallace who was on the bench alongside two more former Clarets in Steven Fletcher and David Jones.

Michael Kightly was he only ex-Claret to score a league goal yesterday and although it was his first game for Southend since leaving Burnley, it was not a debut having started his career there and him already having been included for that club. However, Pete Whittingham, signed in the summer from Cardiff, was making his debut for Blackburn in a game that Southend won 2-1.

There were also League One debuts for Matt Gilks, who was in goal for Scunthorpe’s 1-1 home draw against AFC Wimbledon, Luke O’Neill in a 0-0 draw for Gillingham at Doncaster and Shay McCartan who started for Bradford City in a 2-1 home win against Blackpool.

Two current Burnley players also made League One debuts yesterday and both as substitutes. Chris Long came on for Northampton in that game at Shrewsbury while Aiden O’Neill was brought on by Fleetwood as they beat Rotherham 2-0 at home.

In League Two, there was a Crawley debut for Mark Randall who moved from Newport County in the summer.

Josh Ginnelly, on loan at Lincoln, scored their equaliser and second goal in a 2-2 draw at Wycombe. Josh, however, is not included having not, as yet, played in the first team at Burnley.

The Played For Both Clubs feature includes all players who have played post war football for Burnley and can be found in the Players drop down on the top menu.
