Ayr is next stop for under-23s
The under-23s had two games scheduled in Scotland this week and it probably comes as no surprise that the second of them this Saturday will be against partner club Ayr United.
Having been beaten 4-2 yesterday at Rangers, this will be the team’s second pre-season game and will bring the week in Scotland to an end.
Kick off this Saturday is 1 p.m. A limited number of spectators will be admitted but that will be restricted to Ayr season ticket holders.
Ayr chairman David Smith said: “The partnership with Burnley is a strategically important one for Ayr United and we are delighted to host them on the 17th and allow our young players to actively look at the pathway available”.
Burnley’s Chief Operating Officer Matt Williams said: “We are delighted to be making our first visit to Somerset Park and we know it will be a tough challenge for our U23 group but one that they are relishing.” He added: “Since the partnerships were announced we staged a very successful U16 tournament and there has been lots of dialogue between all the clubs, particularly at Academy level, where our Head of Coaching, Ian Jones, has led various zoom calls and information sharing. I am sure as the country begins to open up and the season gets underway, staff from all clubs will have the opportunity of visiting each other and develop the partnerships even further.”Follow UpTheClarets:
