Having moved into the U18 Premier League for the first time, we kicked off our season back in mid-September at Stoke City and beat them 3-1 to get off to a winning start with Jake Rooney (pictured) scoring twice and Joe McGlynn also on the scoresheet.

It didn’t bring about a great start for us and the next four games were all lost before we were able to beat Sunderland by that same 3-1 score in game six. One win and four defeats wasn’t the best of starts but things have looked up since ahead of tomorrow’s return game against Stoke.

We have moved up to fifth going into the game while Stoke are tenth, some ten points behind us but with two games in hand, and  we go into the game in form, despite the cup defeat, with five victories in the last ten games. Only the top three have scored more goals than us, and they have all scored a lot more than us, and only those same three clubs plus Middlesbrough have conceded less.

Our opponents Stoke are the lowest scorers in the north league with 17 although they did net twice last week in a 3-2 home defeat against Derby. They’ve won just once in seven games since beating Blackburn in early December and that’s seen them drop down the table.

Tomorrow’s game is scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. at the County Ground, Leyland.
