Benson back with a bang against QPR
Manuel Benson scored his first home goal since the week before Christmas when he netted our goal in the 2-1 defeat against Queens Park Rangers last Saturday.
That, and his overall performance in our first home defeat of the season, won him both the man of the match and the player ratings as he moved back into fourth place in the Up the Clarets Player of the Year Table
He was a clear winner for the man of the match, polling 51% of the vote. The top two in the table at kick off claimed the next two places with Jordan Beyer, who won 14%, just beating Josh Cullen to second place with Cullen claiming 12%. Goalkeeper Arijanet Muric took fourth place with a 7% share of the vote.
Not one player reached seven out of ten for a good performance in the player ratings, but Benson was again the winner with a rating of 6.77 out of ten with Beyer again second with 6.52. Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson came third with 6.40 with Muric in fourth place with a rating of 6.25 out of ten.
That’s given Benson the maximum ten points towards the player of the year. Beyer has won six points with two points each for Cullen, Guðmundsson and Muric. With those points added, Benson has joined Nathan Tella in fourth place on 99 points but with only three games remaining, our new player of the year will be Cullen or Beyer with Cullen going into the Blackburn game with a ten point lead.
