David Webb will be in charge of our away game tomorrow at Bristol City for what will be his fourth Burnley game this season having previously refereed our home games against Stoke City, Middlesbrough and Coventry City.

He had a shocker in the 1-1 draw against Stoke and was even worse when we beat Middlesbrough, the game that saw Connor Roberts sent off for watching the ball hit the bar. He was marginally better for the visit of Coventry.

Prior to this season he’d refereed us on seven occasions, all of them in the Championship, kicking off with the 1-0 defeat at Coventry in 2010 through to the 1-0 home win against Brentford in 2015. It is these games, where he faired better, that has seen him remain as high as sixteenth in RATE THE REF with a rating of 60.23 out of a hundred.

This season he has refereed a total of 37 games. All but six of them have been in the Championship with one in League One, two in League Two, one League Cup tie and two ]in the FA Cup. There have been 113 yellow and nine red cards in those games.

Of the yellows, 59 have gone to home team players and 54 to away team players. The nine red cards, which includes Roberts’ against Middlesbrough, have all come in the Championship.

Roberts was his fifth red this season with the previous four all coming in the Sheffield United v Blackpool game which ended 3-30. Sheffield United had goalkeeper Wes Foderingham sent off at the end but Blackpool had already lost Marvin Ekpiteta, Dominic Thompson and Shayne Lavery in a five minute spell.

Cardiff had Jak Alnwick sent off in a 2-0 defeat at Preston in March and he’s sent off three players in his last four games; Domingos Quina was first in Rotherham’s 0-0 draw at Hull, then Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann as they lost 3-2 at home against Huddersfield.

His last red card game in the Norwich v Swansea game with Norwich’s Sam McCallum dismissed in their 3-0 defeat. They also had Liam Gibbs yellow carded with Swansea’s Matt Grimes also picking up a yellow card.

The fourth official tomorrow is John  Busby. He’s refereed us twice this season, at Coventry and the home game against Wigan.
