Midfielder Josh Cullen won both the man of the match and the player ratings in last Saturday’s big 4-0 win against Huddersfield Town and it ensured he would be the Up the Clarets February Player of the Month.

It was another outstanding performance from Cullen and he won the man of the match with 39% of the vote, ahead of Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson, another player in outstanding form, who came second with a 20% share. The two central defenders took the next two places; Jordan Beyer, returning from injury, was third with 12% while Hjalmar Ekdal took fourth place with 10% of the vote.

Three of those four players were in the top four of the player ratings too. Again Cullen won with a rating of 9.19 out of ten and Beyer took second place with 8.88. Beyer was just ahead of both Guðmundsson and Connor Roberts who both had ratings of 8.86 out of ten to jointly take third place.

This won Cullen the maximum ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year with both Beyer and Guðmundsson winning five points. There were also two points for Roberts and one point for Ekdal.

Cullen is now third in the player of the year table and just four points behind Manuel Benson who hasn’t featured for the Clarets since coming off injured in the 2-1 win against West Brom in January. Beyer now sits ten points behind Cullen in fourth place with Jack Cork still in front some twenty-one points ahead of Benson.

However, February was really good for Cullen who won a player of the month award for the first time. He led the table ahead of the Huddersfield game but it took him to 32 points from the seven games played and a clear twelve point lead over Ekdal and Nathan Tella in joint second place.

Cullen joins previous monthly winners this season: Josh Brownhill (July/August), Jack Cork (September), Anass Zaroury (October), Manuel Benson (November) and Jordan Beyer (December and January).

The Huddersfield result is below, followed by the February Player of the Year result and the current Player of the Year Table.

The next vote will follow tonight’s FA Cup tie against Fleetwood.
