The start of the season always brings a number of changes to one section on Up the Clarets and this year is no exception with five new entries in our Played for Both Clubs feature.

This feature shows, club by club, any player who has played for that club competitively in post war football while also featuring competitively for Burnley.

Ipswich debut for Stephen Ward

It was updated last weekend following Stoke’s penalty shoot out win against Blackpool. The game ended 0-0 with the Potters winning the shoot out 5-4. The game saw Steven Fletcher, recently signed from Sheffield Wednesday, come on as a 63rd minute substitute for Lee Gregory.

Four more made debuts yesterday; three of them, like Fletcher, helped their teams to victory with only Nathan Delfouneso, recently moved from Blackpool to Bolton, on the losing side. Now down in League Two, Bolton were beaten 2-1 at home by Bradford City, a team they will be meeting this season in the league with Delfouneso playing the full game.

Alex MacDonald has moved back into League One this season with Gillingham, having left Mansfield. They got their League Cup campaign off to a winning start with a 1-0 home win against Southend with MacDonald staring the game and playing the first 75 minutes.

It was a full ninety minutes for Stephen Ward at Ipswich who had a comfortable win against Bristol Rovers at Portman Road, winning 3-0. It was the same score for Northampton at home against Cardiff in one of the upsets of the day and with another former Burnley left back making a debut. Joseph Mills, like MacDonald, has moved up a division this year and won the penalty which opened the scoring for the Cobblers just past the half hour.

Fletcher, Delfouneso, MacDonald, Ward and Mills have all now been added to their respective new clubs in Played for Both Clubs which can be found  in the Players drop down menu.
