Dwight McNeil had come in for a bit of criticism following a somewhat subdued start to the season but things have certainly picked up for him in the last week or two.

He got an England under-21 call up, then signed a new deal with the club before going to The Hawthorns last Monday and turning in a man of the match performance in the 0-0 draw that saw us collect our first point of the season.

He won the man of the match with some 56% of the vote with Nick Pope, another to have had a really good last two weeks, coming second with a 21% share. Kevin Long secured third place with 11% of the vote while 3% was enough to win fourth place for Erik Pieters who filled in at right back in the absence of both Phil Bardsley and Matt Lowton.

We had the same three in the top positions in the player ratings; McNeil winning with a score of 7.67 out of 10. That was just ahead of Pope who scored 7.52 and again Long was in third place; his rating was 6.94. James Tarkowski took fourth place in the ratings with a score of 6.70 out of 10.

McNeil and Pope have moved into fourth and fifth places in the Up the Clarets Player of the Year Table but there has been no threat on the top two with Charlie Taylor some seven points clear at the top ahead of Josh Brownhill who sits six points ahead of both Bardsley and Jimmy Dunne.

The next vote will be underway tomorrow night following the home game against Spurs. You can see the West Brom result at the current player of the year table below.
