Moss to referee us for first time this season
In charge of tomorrow’s home game against Brentford is Jon Moss in what is his first Burnley game of the season although his fifth Burnley game of the calendar year.
At home in 2021, he refereed the FA Cup tie against MK and the league game against Fulham before refereeing the away games at Everton and Manchester United, the third season in succession that he’d been in charge of the Old Trafford fixture. We have to go back just over a year to the last time he took charge of a Brentford game, that was their 3-0 win against Fulham in last season’s League Cup.
He’s refereed eight games this season, six of them in the Premier League and two in the League Cup. Those games have brought just thirteen yellow cards and one red card. Five of those yellows have gone to home team players with eight to away team players. The one player he has sent off is Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga at Crystal Palace.
There hasn’t been a card in either of his last two games, the most recent being Wednesday’s League Cup tie between West Ham and Manchester City.
Jeremy Simpson is fourth official tomorrow. He’s been a Football League referee since 2012 but is still to referee a Burnley game. Andy Madley is on VAR duty; his last Burnley game was the 1-1 home draw against Leicester last March.
