Scott has the whistle tomorrow
When Burnley last played at home three weeks ago against Crystal Palace, Graham Scott was involved in a controversial incident while on VAR duty but tomorrow he’s in the middle as referee when we face West Ham United.
Quite how on earth he didn’t overturn Simon Hooper’s decision not to show a red card Joachim Andersen, only he will know, but it is no surprise really given some of his performances when refereeing Burnley games.
This season he’s refereed ten games of which half have been in the Premier League. In those ten games there have been 38 yellow and three red cards. There have been more home yellow cards with 22 of them going to home team players and just sixteen to away team players.
The three red cards all came in the League Two fixture which left ten man Colchester ending their 1-1 home draw against nine man Bristol Rovers. Four days later he was back in the Premier League but tomorrow will be his first top flight fixture for five weeks.
His last game was last Saturday’s Championship game between Bristol City and Derby at Ashton Gate which Bristol City won 1-0. The home team had Tomas Kalas, Tyreeq Bakinson and Cameron Pring yellow carded alongside Derby pair Craig Forsyth and Jason Knight.
The fourth official tomorrow is Craig Pawson whose last Burnley game was the 0-0 draw at Aston Villa almost a year ago. Jon Moss, who is on VAR duty, was the referee when we beat Brentford at home in October.
