Despite the 1-0 defeat last Saturday at Newcastle, it was another excellent performance from Charlie Taylor who followed up his outstanding performance at Wolves with another man of the match and player ratings win at St. James’ Park.

It wasn’t quite 86% of the vote this time but he still won almost half of the vote, 48% to be exact, and, like at Wolves, it was Nathan Collins, now deputising for the injured Ben Mee, in second place having won 28%. Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson was third with 11% and the returning James Tarkowski was fourth with just 3% of the vote.

The same four players contested the top four places in the ratings too with the same top two. Tayloe was the only player to score over seven for a good performance; his rating was 7.14 out of 10, and Collins came second with 6.31. Tarkowski was third having scored 6.31 with Guðmundsson, who scored 5.86 out of 10, finishing fourth.

Both Guðmundsson and Tarkowski won three points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year but significantly there were ten points for Taylor and six for Collins meaning they now hold the top two places.

Taylor leads the way with 49 points, two ahead of Collins who himself holds a one point lead over Tarkowski. Dwight McNeil and Maxwel Cornet, on 41 and 40 points respectively, remain in touch with the top three.
