Anthony Taylor was referee for our game at Goodison Park against Everton on Boxing Day last year and tomorrow he will be at Turf Moor when the two teams face each other for the first time since.

Considered one of our top referees now, this will be Taylor’s second Burnley game this season having previously refereed the 0-0 draw at West Brom in October. His most recent Everton game was their home draw against West Ham in July.

He’s refereed a total of thirteen games this season with seven of them in the Premier League and the other six all in European club and country competitions.

The seven Premier League games have brought a total of 22 yellow and two red cards. Of those yellows, twelve have gone to home team players and ten to away team players. He sent off Anthony Martial in Manchester United’s 6-1 home defeat against Tottenham while Arsenal’s Nicolas Pepé was dismissed in their 0-0 draw against Arsenal last month.

That game also saw three yellow cards which went to Leeds trio Liam Cooper, Stuart  Dallas and Kalvin Phillips. It was his most recent domestic game although his red card was used three days later when he dismissed Inter Milan’s Arturo Vida in their 2-0 home Champions League defeat against Real Madrid.

Chris Kavanagh will be supporting him as fourth official tomorrow; his last Burnley game was our 0-0 home draw against Arsenal last season. Mike Dean will be on VAR duty; his most recent Burnley game as referee was the 0-0 draw at Brighton.
