Two defenders are best despite the four goals at West Ham
Burnley conceded four more goals at West Ham last Saturday, losing 4-2, to take our total of goals conceded in the Premier League this season to 25. Yet, two of the back four were considered our best players in both the man of the match vote and the player ratings.
Captain and central defender Ben Mee won the man of the match vote. He won 38% of the vote and was followed by Charlie Taylor, his partner on the left hand side of the defence; he polled 21%. Goalkeeper Joe Hart came in third with a 19% share, just ahead of Jόhann Berg Guðmundsson who took fourth place with 17% of the vote.
The same four players took the top four places in the player ratings too, but this time Taylor was the winner with a rating of 6.93 out of 10. Mee was second, just behind Taylor with 6.89 and these were the only two players to reach the average mark of six. Third place was shared in the ratings with both Guðmundsson and Hart securing scores of 5.81 out of 10.
This result has given both Mee and Taylor eight points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year while Hart won four points with three points for Guðmundsson.
That result has taken Hart even further away at the top; his lead over James Tarkowski, who is in second place, is now 22 points. Guðmundsson has now moved into third place ahead of Jack Cork and Mee is now in fifth place, just three points behind Jeff Hendrick.
