When our Premier League 2 game against Sunderland was postponed last Monday at the Academy of Light it denied us the opportunity to move into fifth place in Division 2 having dropped to third from bottom with Reading’s win at Fulham three days earlier.

Just three of the six games were played in our division. Both went ahead last Friday, Aston Villa the other winners besides Reading but with frozen pitches at the start of this week only the Stoke v Middlesbrough game, won by Stoke, was played and that win shifted Stoke up to fourth having kicked off just ahead of us on goal difference.

It’s still so tight in this league. Leeds sit eight points clear at the top but only seven points then separate Wolves, who are and second and Newcastle in bottom place.

Up in Division 1 it’s a lot closer at the top of the league although they do have a straggler in West Ham at the bottom; they are six points adrift of next to bottom Southampton. Spurs sit fourth but just two points behind leaders Chelsea with Manchester City and Blackburn between them. The top three have also played the same number of games.

With Chelsea’s game against Southampton postponed last Friday, both Manchester City and Blackburn had the opportunity to go top when they met at the Etihad Academy last Monday. It ended all square at 1-1 with City having to come from behind.

Hopefully we will get some games in this weekend. It starts today through to Monday with five games in Division 1 and six in Division 2 including our trip to Newcastle on Monday afternoon which will be played at their academy.

The player featured this week is French midfielder Anthony Gomez Mancini. Currently on loan from Angers, there has been speculation that he could be making the move permanent.

The League Tables  and our Fixtures and Results are both within U23/U18 Stats which can be found on the top menu.
