Having got a creditable draw against Sheffield Wednesday last week, our under-18s play a first away game of 2019 tomorrow with the short trip to Bolton.

1718 burnley dan moss 00 500x500We go into the game in fourth place in the U18 Professional Development League although some way behind the top three of Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds who are no eight, six and five points clear of us respectively.

We are still recovering from that run of results from late October until the beginning of December which saw his lose four out of five games and it all started with a 3-2 home loss against Bolton. We trailed 1-0 at half time in that game but turned things in our favour with goals from Mitch George and Michael Fowler. Unfortunately, Bolton drew level soon afterwards and won it with five minutes remaining.

A win that day would have seen us go top while Bolton have fared not much better since with just two wins from six games. They are currently third from bottom of the table, ahead of Barnsley and Hull.

There might be a good omen. We lost the home game against them last season, a result which also ended a good run, but when we played them away, on the same Saturday as this season’s game, we won 4-1 with goals from Dan Moss (pictured), Craig Ellison and two from Marley Blair.

Kick off tomorrow at the Eddie Davies Academy is 11 a.m.
