With the international break and last week’s cup game at Arsenal, from which we brought home a point following a superb 2-2 draw, it’s back to league action tomorrow with Derby County the visitors to Gawthorpe.

It’s been a mixed sort of start to the season but given some of the problem we’ve encountered that’s probably no surprise, but we go into this seventh league game of the season with two wins behind us and seven points.

Those wins have both come away from home, firstly at Newcastle back in August where we sensationally won 8-3 and four weeks ago when we recorded a 3-0 win at Nottingham Forest.

Derby too have two wins but our home draw against Middlesbrough keeps us above them with Derby having lost all their other four games. They are currently three places behind us but with just that one point less. We need to be aware, this being a home game, that Derby’s two victories have also come away from home. They won 3-0 at Middlesbrough while we were enjoying that win at Newcastle with their other win coming at Liverpool last month.

This fixture last season was played in May this year and ended in a 1-1 draw with Joe Smyth-Ferguson (pictured) giving us the lead before a Derby equaliser with just under twenty minutes remaining.

Kick off at Gawthorpe tomorrow is 1 p.m.
