During this week, we’ve asked you to choose which home win you considered was our best performance of the season and the result was emphatic; the 3-0 win against Blackburn Rovers in November.

Looking at the league table now, it’s hard to believe that they would have gone top of the league that day had they beaten us, but it was us who returned to the top, knocking Sheffield United off their temporary perch in first place ahead of the World Cup break.

Two Ashley Barnes goals, sandwiching one from Anass Zaroury did the trick on an afternoon when, according to the song, our visitors came and hardly touched the ball.

When asked to choose the best game from nineteen wins in league and cups, this wasn’t just the winner. Taking into account who it was and where the two teams were at the time. Taking into account just how emphatic the win was, it’s no surprise to see it win against some of the other big wins.

What might be a surprise is just how big this win was with the game securing 64% of the vote. It was followed by the 3-0 win against Preston, one I missed through illness, which won 9%. The 4-0 win against Swansea was third with a 7% share and that was followed by Middlesbrough (3-1) and Huddersfield (4-0) which took the next two places with each securing 5% of the vote.

We’ve now got just one vote to go to complete the season and that’s for our best away performance. All thirteen league wins, added to two in the cups, will be available to choose and the vote will get underway next Monday.
