Jack Leckie was one of six of last season’s under-18 squad to be released at the end of the season and Hull City have today confirmed the news that he has joined them for the next two seasons at least.

The central defender had already played for them on trial prior to his Burnley release being confirmed and it had become known  that he’d joined them. Earlier this afternoon, that news was confirmed by Hull for whom he has signed a two-year deal with the option of an extra year in the club’s favour.

Leckie came to Burnley from his home town club Newcastle two years ago and last season made nineteen appearances for our under-18 team which included seventeen U18 Premier League games and our two FA Youth Cup ties against Luton and Liverpool.

When he went to Hull on trial, he firstly played in the under-18s but then won games in their under-23 team, helping them keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 win at Ipswich.

On signing, Leckie said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have signed with Hull City. I firmly believe in this club and the opportunity it gives to younger players. I’m going to work hard and develop as a player and I’m looking forward to becoming a Tiger in the coming seasons.”

Leckie will initially join their under-23 squad to join a side that finished third in the Professional Development League (North) last season under academy manager Richard Naylor.

We wish Jack the very best at Hull.
