Langford will referee Bristol City game
Oliver Langford is the referee this afternoon for the home game against Bristol City in what will be his first Turf Moor game in almost seven years since he was in charge of our 2-1 home win against Huddersfield Town in October 2015.
He has refereed us once more recently, that the League Cup tie at Newcastle last season, to add to his six Football League matches involving the Clarets when, it is fair to say, he has not impressed. Hid first Burnley game, the 1-0 defeat at Doncaster in 2011 was probably the worst of them all but, overall, his performances have left him with a RATE THE REF rating of just 47.65 out of a hundred.
He’s been busy with his cards this season. He kicked off with a game in League One and his most recent game was in League Two. Between them he’s refereed four Championship games. In those six games there have been a total of 29 yellow cards with fifteen of those cards going to home team players and fourteen to away team players; his last nine cards have gone to home team players.
He showed an amazing nine cards in the Stoke v Sunderland game in August, his highest in one game this season. In his last match, Stevenage’s 1-0 home win against Newport, he showed just three, to home players Dan Sweeney, Jordan Roberts and Luke Norris.
His fourth official today is Scottish referee Bobby Madden. He refereed our recent League Cup tie at Shrewsbury and had an impressive game.
