It’s been a busy week with the international call ups and this afternoon two more Burnley players have received theirs ahead of next week’s the international break.

He scored for the under-23s on Monday, was named on the bench for the first team on Wednesday and has now received his first call up for England at under-17 level who will be playing in the Syrenka Cup tournament in Poland.

Academy manager Jon Pepper said: It’s really good news for him and well deserved. I think his progress and form for the under-23s this season, as well as a place on the bench for the first team, warrants it.”

He’s no newcomer to the national set up. Last season he played for the under-16s and scored. This time he will be in the party that goes to Warsaw to play in an eight team tournament with England set to play Finland, Austria and Romania on 6th, 8th and 10th of September.

Also on his travels is Cricky Conn-Clarke. He’s in the Northern Ireland under-19 squad who will play two friendly internationals next week against the Faroe Islands.

Congratulations to both young players, what a terrific boost their call ups are for our academy.
