Under-18s back in action today
When last weekend’s fixtures kicked off our under-18s were eighth in the U18 Premier League North and that’s where we remain despite having no game.
Only Blackburn could catch us but, like us, had no game but both Middlesbrough and Everton, who were above us on goal difference, won against Derby and Sunderland to move three points clear leaving Derby, with two points more, the closest to us.
A week ago, the two Manchester clubs and Liverpool were all locked together on points although Liverpool had played two games more. But United won at Liverpool while City had a resounding 5-0 win against Stoke.
Leeds remain bottom having been beaten by Newcastle and they are our opponents this afternoon and we’ll be looking to complete the double against them having won the home game earlier in the season 3-2 with a Sam Unwin hat trick.
Crystal Palace and Fulham have been swapping places at the top of the south division and they’ve done it again. Fulham led the league by one point a week ago but were without a game and hoping Palace wouldn’t win their fixture at West Brom. They did win it, they won it 7-1 and now sit two points clear. It wasn’t the only big away win in the south with Spurs beating Chelsea.
Our game at Leeds kicks off at 2 p.m. this afternoon and Keelan Williams, brother of Liverpool’s Neco, could be in the team at right back. We are featuring Keelan this week to congratulate him on receiving a call up for Wales at under-18 level.
