Monday, 21st December saw the final games of 2020 in Premier League 2 which saw Chelsea and Leeds go into the new year at the top of Divisions 1 and 2.

It all gets going again over the next three days with four games in each division, including our home game against Wolves on Monday, with one game having already been played this year. That was our 4-1 defeat against league leaders Leeds which has now taken them six points ahead of our next opponents in the Division 2 table.

In the strangest of leagues, we sit third from bottom, just one point ahead of Newcastle and Reading, but remain just one win away from third place Middlesbrough and only a further two points behind Wolves who beat us 3-2 in our first game in this league with Lewis Richardson and Max Thompson (pictured) scoring our goals. Thompson was the player who got a touch to the corner last Monday to score our first goal of 2021.

Given how close things are in the league, a team having a six point advantage at this stage is massive but Leeds are a side who quite often play a number of more experienced players and in terms of league placing it is paying off in their first season at this level after they and Crystal Palace, along with ourselves, won Category 1 status.

Although Division 1 isn’t quite so tight, the leaders don’t have anything like the advantage that Leeds do in Division 2. Chelsea’s lead is currently just one point over Blackburn with Manchester City, who have a game in hand, a further three points behind.

West Ham will be looking for a big improvement in the remainder of the season. They are currently bottom with five points but that leaves them six points behind Southampton who occupy next to bottom place.

The League Tables  and our Fixtures and Results are both within U23/U18 Stats which can be found on the top menu.
