This time a week ago, there were four teams in the north group of the U18 Professional Development League still searching for their first points of the season but that number was reduced to three when we came from behind to beat Charlton 2-1 last Saturday with two goals from Joe Westley.

This last week’s fixtures saw the north teams at home and there were wins for Barnsley, Crewe and Sheffield United besides ourselves with six teams from the south winning. Two of those, Barnsley and Sheffield United, won for the second time this season and both now have six points and lead the table with Birmingham, Hull and Peterborough still looking for their first points.

Such has been the strength of the south group teams so far, all of them have at least three points with half of the league on six points. Bristol City, courtesy of their big 9-0 win a week earlier, are top on goal difference.

To date, the south have recorded fifteen wins against nine from the north which makes it very difficult to see any pattern in the league tables. We’ve two more to play before the games start between clubs in the same league.

Our next league game is at Millwall but that is not until a week this Saturday. The league takes a break this week with us in Professional Development League Cup action this Saturday against Wigan.

The player featured this week is defender Nathan James who is a second year scholar.

The League Tables and our Fixtures and Results can be found within U23/U18 Stats on the top menu.
